A breath of fresh air to competitive CoD4: VITA NOVA

Several key figures in the international CoD4 scene have united to form the VITA NOVA, an organisation whose main purpose is to push forward competitive CoD4.

 

CoD4 was hailed to be the next big thing in eSports; a competitive team-based shooter, with a functioning competitive mod, a huge community to back it, and big tournaments and LANs, until Activision decided to milk their cash cow and started producing a full range of sequels, as well as a divide within the scene due to some people wanting to go back to CoD2, which decimated the community.

 

CoD4's competitive future seemed to hang by a thread, until the community finally realised what was going to happen, stood their ground united, the goal in mind being reviving CoD4. Response has been immense, with administrators having to take drastic action so as not to have an overpopulated CIC7, and with the prized cups of eSports Heaven having immense turnout.

 

However, not pursuing the efforts would mean going back to the original state, which is why VITA NOVA was formed: to continue supporting and pushing forward for CoD4 to have a place in eSport.

 

The following is the mission statement on their website:

 

"Vita Nova was formed on the 1st of January 2010 by a few select individuals with one common goal - To Help and Promote the Call of Duty 4 Scene in any way we can. Our vision is a global vision and we are already looking forward to the day when we can have many of the worlds continents represented at tournaments.

In just a few months we have formed a highly motivated team from all across the globe that are vigorously working on nearly a dozen active projects. We aim to form tight relationships with all major organisations and nations involved in the scene and work with tournament organisers to provide the community with continuous high profile competitions.

We will also be hosting prestigious tournaments and Lan events of our own with the support of our partners to form continuous annual Lan seasons. In time this will nurture new talent in the scene and provide greater levels of competition each year.

We will soon be releasing our website which will provide up to date news and updates regarding the Call of Duty 4 scene as well as our own projects. We will also provide an up to date calendar listing all upcoming tournaments and events."

Some of the comments were complete and utterly bullshit, if i may say. The one regarding tom and jerry came completely out of nowhere and doesnt even make any sense. Dr ''xih'' (forgot his name) didnt even know what he was talking about.

OT: my 8 y/o brother used to play GTA when he was 5/6 and thank god i never seen him holding an ak shooting me. He used to see Tom & Jerry and never seen him with a ''tagen'' slapping it in my face.

Its not the game's fault (or cartoons as it went completely out of topic) as someone said (think it was Mauro himself). It's just the individual.

PV jkun mimli bil gamers maltin. The fact that people turn to be asocial or violent is completely a matter of upbringing. One has also to admit that games like GTA promote violence without need. I am not saying one should not play it but to leave it in the hands of an 8 year old is a little too much. Some children might be impressed and I would not leave my son to play with that game at the age of 8 for sure. Still most of them in my opinion where way out of there subject and had no idea what gaming is. Therefore they where continually mentioning TV which ticked me a little off to tell you the truth. Still at least everyone agree in the end including the old guy that it is a matter of upbringing more than anything else. Thanks for watching the show and I hope I will have the opportunity to represent gaming again on TV.
